Our Travel Experiences
Each journey designed for depth, not speed
We offer five core experiences, each crafted around curiosity rather than checklists.
Groups stay small – between four and eight people – because the best discoveries happen through conversation, not crowds. Our guides are locals who genuinely love this region and know how to reveal its layers.
Every experience includes natural pauses for questions, photography, or simply taking a moment to absorb where you are. We're not rushing you between landmarks; we're helping you understand a place.
Hidden Bristol Walking Experience
Four hours exploring the streets and stories that shaped modern Bristol. We start in Clifton Village, weave through secret gardens and Georgian architecture, then descend into neighborhoods where street art meets centuries-old pubs.
You'll learn why certain streets curve the way they do, discover Victorian engineering still in use today, and hear stories about the people who made Bristol what it is – not just the famous names, but the ordinary citizens whose choices accumulated into history.
The tour includes a traditional Somerset cream tea at a local favourite that's been family-run for three generations. We end at a viewpoint that reframes everything you've seen.
Cotswolds Village Discovery
A full day meandering through honey-coloured stone villages, ancient churches, and landscapes that have barely changed in 400 years. This is the opposite of a Cotswolds greatest hits tour.
We avoid the tourist hotspots in favour of market towns where locals still outnumber visitors. You'll walk through villages where the post office doubles as the community centre, explore churches that predate the Norman Conquest, and understand why this landscape inspired so many writers and artists.
Lunch happens at a 16th-century coaching inn that still serves traditional pub food worth eating. Afterwards, we build in time for you to explore antique shops, walking trails, or simply sit by a stream and read.
We handle all transport from Bristol, and the day moves at whatever pace suits the group. If you want to spend an extra fifteen minutes in a particular spot, we adjust accordingly.
Somerset Food & Culture Trail
Eight hours tasting your way through Somerset's culinary heritage while learning why this region produces some of Britain's finest food.
We visit a working dairy farm where you'll meet the cows whose milk becomes award-winning cheese. You'll taste cheddar in various stages of aging and understand why cave-aging changes everything.
Then we meet cider makers who've been perfecting their craft for generations. This isn't commercial cider – these are small producers making traditional farmhouse varieties with apples from their own orchards.
After lunch in a village pub, we spend the afternoon in Bath exploring Georgian architecture, Roman history, and the social dynamics that shaped spa culture. This is food tourism for people who care about provenance, not just Instagram photos.
Maritime Bristol Heritage Journey
Five hours tracing Bristol's complex relationship with the sea through museums, dockside walks, and conversations that confront difficult histories honestly.
Bristol's wealth came from maritime trade – including the slave trade – and we don't shy away from that reality. Our guide Marcus is a historian who brings the past to life while acknowledging its moral complexity.
You'll explore the SS Great Britain, walk the harbourside where ships once loaded cargo, and visit M Shed museum to understand how Bristol evolved from medieval port to modern city.
This tour includes time at the Pero's Bridge memorial and a thoughtful discussion about how cities reckon with their pasts. We end with tea at M Shed café, overlooking the same harbour that's witnessed 800 years of history.
Custom Private Experience
Tell us what fascinates you, and we'll design a day around your curiosity. This is our most flexible offering – completely tailored to your interests, pace, and questions.
Previous custom tours have included tracking down filming locations from favourite shows, visiting contemporary artist studios in Bristol, exploring the city's radical political history, focusing entirely on architecture, or creating nature-focused walks through the Avon Gorge.
We start with a conversation about what draws you to the region. Then our team designs an itinerary that follows your interests while incorporating local expertise you wouldn't find on your own.
The experience is private – just you and your group with one of our guides. Duration is flexible, typically ranging from four hours to a full day. Transport can be included if needed.
This works well for families with specific interests, professionals with limited time, or anyone who prefers a highly personalised approach to travel.
Practical information
What's included
All experiences include an expert local guide, any entrance fees mentioned in the description, and refreshments where specified. For full-day tours, we provide transport from central Bristol.
Group size
We keep groups intimate – usually between four and eight people – because larger groups move too quickly and conversation becomes difficult. Custom private experiences are for your group only.
Accessibility
Most experiences involve moderate walking at a comfortable pace with regular stops. We can adjust for mobility needs – just mention your requirements when booking and we'll discuss options.
Weather
Tours run in all weather except severe storms. We're believers in proper British philosophy: there's no bad weather, only inadequate clothing. We'll send you a reminder about appropriate footwear and layers.
